About Extinguish

Extinguish; to cease to burn or shine, to put an end to.“Extinguish” is an information and fundraising page mainly focusing on the current situation between Palestine and Israel. We come together to do our part to help extinguish crossfires, injuries, and deaths; extinguish the fight and provide the support we know we can give. Through small ways and big ways, we will be able to create a difference and help change lives for the better.
Our Vision
Extinguish strives to be an outlet of change, a source of knowledge, and support. Extinguish is a source of help, to build a community of care and love to make our future a brighter one. With trials, fears, violence, arguments, and death all happening at once, we strive to find solutions even the youngest of our current generation can participate in. Extinguish will create solutions promoting change and reflection, building what we know can be a safe, accepting, and united future.
Our Mission
As days pass, our hunger for change grows. As we, the current youth and future generation, continue to grow, we strive to make the future a safer and more accepting life for the next generations. While it will take time, patience, countless efforts, and a strong spirit, we are determined to make an impact, to make a positive change, and to be an outlet of help and safety for those who need it.

Background
1917
1917, the British Mandate established the “Balfour Declaration” showing their support for “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people”.1937- 1939
Due to increased immigration and foreign rule the Palestinians staged a revolt. This led to repression by the British forces and Jewish militia1947
The UN decided to split Palestine into 2 independent states, and Jerusalem was going to be placed under their administration.
1948
Israel claimed independence and seized more of Palestine than what the plan allotted, except the west bank and the Gaza strip. More than half of the Palestinians were forced to or fled their homes and went to refugee camps in Gaza and the West bank, or neighboring countries.1967
In the war, Israel took over Gaza strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem too. This brought on the Palestinian’s second exodus. Then principles for a lasting peace was made, Security Council Resolution 242.1973
Security Council Resolution 338 called for both sides to have peace negotiations1974
According to an article “the General Assembly reaffirmed the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination, national independence, sovereignty, and to return. The following year, the General Assembly established the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and conferred on the PLO the status of observer in the Assembly and in UN conferences.”https://www.un.org/unispal/history/ Below is a video more on about Palestine and Israel's History

Updates
Current Status
On November 30, 2023, 100 Israeli hostages have been released by Haman in exchange of 200 Palestinian prisoners and as of December 1, 2023, the truce or pause between Israel and Palestine has been extended for one more day in exchange of 30 Palestinians prisoners being freed and Hamas releasing 10 Israeli hostages per day. The extension was a last-minute decision as the two sides failed to come in agreement on the list of Israeli captives to be freed. With the extension or pause, more humanitarian aid such as water, food and medicine can enter the Gaza Strip and the truce would be maintained if Hamas continued to free captives. But Israel will continue its attack after the pause in ended, according to the Prime Minister, “After this phase of returning our abductees is exhausted, will Israel return to fighting? So my answer is an unequivocal yes.”https://abcnews.go.com/International/live-updates/israel-gaza-hamas/?id=105171244
